Can You Take Cialis in the Morning and Viagra at Night?

Can you take both Cialis and Viagra on the same day, but at different times? Learn why this can be dangerous here.

Read on

Some people have wondered if taking Cialis in the morning and Viagra at night may be able to help with their ED symptoms better than taking just one of these options.

And, while for some things, more is better, when it comes to ED medications that are in the same medication class, this is not the case.

The quick answer here is: no, do not take Viagra (Sildenafil) on top of your Cialis (Tadalafil) dose, or vice versa.

Read on to learn while doubling up on ED medications is not only potentially dangerous, but it will likely not give you any erection benefits either.

Cialis (Tadalafil) and Viagra (Sildenafil) are PDE-5 Inhibitors

Both Cialis and Viagra are in the same medication class of PDE-5 Inhibitors.

This means that they help block an enzyme in order to increase the potential blood flow to the penis (when stimulated).

This increased blood flow to the penis can help men achieve and maintain an erection when one of these medications is working in their system.

Cialis last very long in your body, up to 36 hours, while Viagra tends to have effects for around 4 hours after taking a dose.

This means, that if you took Cialis in the morning, it would still be working blocking the PDE-5 enzyme that evening, so adding in an extra dose of Viagra would be overkill and likely have no additional benefits since that enzyme is already being handled by the Cialis.

Taking both together can increase the risk of side effects

While these medications have different names, and work for different amounts of time, they have the exact same mechanism of action, so both on the same day is like doubling up on your prescribed dose of either one.

Taking a larger dose of a medication than prescribed by your doctor can be dangerous and increase your risk of side effects like severely low blood pressure, priapism, dizziness, headache, or vision changes.

Cialis in the morning and Viagra at night: Bottom line

Ask your doctor if your PDE-5 inhibitor isn’t enough. If you feel like your current dose of Cialis or Viagra isn’t quite working for you, your best bet is to talk with your doctor about tips or potential dosing options.

Adding different medications in on the same day without consulting with a doctor is a recipe for side effects or worse outcomes, so never take medication dosing decisions into your own hands.
