A Smarter Approach to Wellness

Sermorelin Peptide Therapy

Your body's growth hormone production is regulated by the pituitary gland. Sermorelin is a peptide that naturally binds to receptors on the pituitary, signaling it to produce and release growth hormone in a natural, pulsatile way. This helps restore more youthful hormonal rhythms, supporting processes like metabolism, recovery, and sleep, without the risks of directly introducing synthetic HGH.

Your Questions, Answered

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a peptide medication that mimics the release of growth hormone-releasing hormone in the body. By mimicking this hormone, it signals the pituitary gland to release more growth hormone into the body. This is different from using actual human growth hormone (HGH), because it is stimulating the body to produce more growth hormone on its own, instead of injecting it directly. Because of this, it may be a preferable way to increase growth hormone levels in the body.

How does Sermorelin work?

Sermorelin works by mimicking the growth hormone-releasing hormone in the body. This causes the body to release more of its own growth hormone into the body. With more growth hormone release, some people may notice enhanced strength and lean muscle mass, a leaner body composition, improved mood, and better energy, endurance, and recovery time, to name a few.

How should I take Sermorelin?

Oral Sermorelin: When using oral Sermorelin, you will likely be instructed to take it by mouth for 5 days and then take 2 days off. This is preferably taken on an empty stomach and while avoiding eating or drinking for a short while afterward to help enhance absorption. However, follow the instructions listed on your specific prescription issued by your doctor, if it differs from this. Injectable Sermorelin: When using injectable Sermorelin, you will likely be instructed to inject it subcutaneously once every day for 5 days and then take 2 days off. However, follow the instructions listed on your specific prescription issued by your doctor, if it differs from this. To inject, clean your injection site and the top of your medication vial with a sterile alcohol pad. The recommended injection sites include your upper leg, upper arm, or stomach (avoiding your navel by at least 2 inches). Using a clean needle and syringe, draw out your prescribed dose into the syringe. Pinch your skin and tissue up into a “roll” and insert the needle straight into your skin and slowly press the plunger until all of the medication has been delivered. Then, carefully remove the needle by lifting it out straight, and dispose of the needle in a sharps container. You may want to rotate injection sites to help alleviate bruising and soreness at the injection sites. This may look like rotating from the upper arm, to the stomach, to the thigh each subsequent injection. Speak with your pharmacy or doctor if you need more detailed information on how to inject properly.

How long does Sermorelin take to work?

Different effects of sermorelin may become apparent at different times. While certain things, such as energy levels, sleep benefits, and mood improvements, may be noticed in a matter of weeks. Other results, like body composition changes, may take longer, sometimes many months, to be noticeable. There may be individual differences in result timelines and extents due to your age, prior health status, adherence to your medication, and the inclusion of lifestyle factors like a healthy diet and regular exercise. Sermorelin may also not be a good fit for every person, and may not deliver the desired results for everyone. Talk with your doctor if you are not seeing the desired effect after using this medication for a while.

How often should I use Sermorelin?

Use the prescribed dosage frequency as listed on your medication label from your doctor. Most users will be instructed to use their sermorelin medication once daily for 5 days in a row and then take 2 days off, and then continue repeating that cycle. But, if your prescription information or doctor has advised you to use it differently, follow the instructions on your prescription.

What should I tell my doctor before starting Sermorelin?

Before starting Sermorelin, it is important that your doctor has a full and accurate medical history for you. This includes all of your current medications and supplements, and medical conditions. Medical conditions that may be especially important to note before using Sermorelin include: Thyroid conditions, cancer or tumors, diabetes, growth hormone abnormalities, and autoimmune diseases, among others. It is also important to share if you are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant. Sermorelin should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What should I avoid while taking Sermorelin?

While using Sermorelin, you will want to avoid using similar medications or other medications that increase growth hormone levels to avoid levels becoming too high. You may also want to take oral sermorelin on an empty stomach and avoid eating or drinking for a short while afterward to allow for better absorption. You may also want to reduce or avoid alcohol, and very sugary or unhealthy foods. These items may counteract the positive body effects you hope to see, and may lead to you not getting optimal results.

What are the common side effects of Sermorelin?

The more common side effects of Sermorelin include headache, nausea, dizziness, flushing, restlessness, itching, temporary changes in taste (for oral formulations), and pain or tenderness at the injection site (for injectable formulations). Other more serious but less common side effects may include severe allergic reactions, existing tumor growth and worsening, and unwanted metabolic and hormonal changes. Sermorelin may not be appropriate for people with cancer or tumors due to the potential risk of exacerbating growth. For a full list of the possible side effects of Sermorelin, including the less common but more serious side effects, look at the patient safety information on our website and the Sermorelin package information.
